"Musicians Union Local 6 is a trade union
representing more than 1600 professional musicians in the San Francisco Bay
Area, including the musicians of three major world-class orchestras - those of
the SF Symphony, Opera and Ballet - as well as top-flight musicians in all
musical genres and specialty instruments.
Our musicians comprise what has become known as the "Skywalker
Symphony," the resident orchestra at Skywalker Ranch scoring stage, which
rivals any ensemble in the world engaged in the
complex and fast-paced business of recording videogame, motion picture
and television scores, as well as other commercial projects. Our Union and its Recording Committee is
constantly at work to ensure an easy and expedited experience in securing
appropriate union contracts for projects of any size and budget, from solo
sessions to large, cinematic orchestras.
Composer Marco Beltrami (Hell Boy, Terminator 3) says of
the recording musicians of Musicians Union Local 6 and the Skywalker Symphony:
"Their professional attitude, accommodating spirit, and extraordinary
musicianship have consistently brought life to my scores to make them stand
out. I look forward to future work experiences with the Bay musicians."
And composer Greg Edmonson (Uncharted, Firefly) says:
"Recording . with the musicians of San Francisco Local 6 was an exciting
and wonderful experience.
Not only are they superb players, but they were
enthusiastic, fast and did it all with a sense of humor. In a high pressure
environment, all of those factors come into play, and boy did they
deliver."
